All You Need To Know About The Grand Slam 2021 French Open

Tennis Sports Bet

Even though the French Open is one of the major grand slams, few people are aware that it was named Roland Garros in the memory of Eugène Adrien Roland Georges Garros, the pioneering aviator and fighter pilot from France.

Now that we’re done with that interesting bit of trivia let’s talk about how the upcoming French Open 2021 is looking like. French Open 2021 will be the second grand slam to take place in the year 2021 after the Australian Open, which was played in February.

Of the four grand slams that happen every year, French Open is the only major that happens on clay. The tournament took place last year as well, even though it was postponed from May to September due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Compared to last year, when COVID-19 had postponed the French Open by four months, it has pushed it only by a week this year. This year the tournament will happen at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris from May 30 to June 13, 2021. Before that, qualifiers will be held from May 24 to May 28.

The tournament will host matches in categories like men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, junior, and wheelchair.

The French Open 2021 is crucial for tennis lovers and the host country France from two perspectives. One, it’s the first sporting event in France that’s bringing spectators back this spring.

Two, it’s happening at a time when the country has started recovering from the COVID-19 as the number of new infections is declining and the number of vaccinations is increasing. That said, the authorities are still going to remain watchful to prevent further outbreaks.

As the lockdown in France is still getting lifted, the stadiums will see spectators but in a limited capacity. That said, there will be no spectators for the qualifying rounds. For the main tournament, between May 30 and June 8, the authorities have allowed each public premise within the stadium to have a maximum of 35% occupancy.

Spectators will be allowed inside the Philippe-Chatrier court from June 9, but only with a “health pass.” From June 9 to June 13, each public premise is allowed to have a maximum of 65% occupancy. Such restrictions will help in ensuring that no major health hazards take place during the event.

However, there’ll be no restrictions for viewers watching matches on their laptops or TV screens. Most tennis fans and bettors watch French Open that way in India, and therefore, we think that the upcoming grand slam will be full of excitement.
